When a crisis or disaster strikes -- car wreck, family suicide, school shooting, war, tragic accident -- without proper treatment, the lingering effects can be devastating.

This course provides great strategies for aiding recovery, minimizing stress and anxiety, and reducing the effects of destructive physical and emotional symptoms often associated with PTSD. 

Based on DSM-IV criteria, with required readings.   

Objectives:

1. Identify common symptoms and behaviors related to trauma, shock and PTSD.
2. Understand the use and efficacy of medications and other treatments.
3. Develop crisis management and post-crisis resolution plans.
4. Utilize community and situational supports to resolve difficulties.
   

(You Must have access to a DSM-IV to complete this course. The DSM is not included with the course materials.)
