Become a Certified Dual-Diagnosis Treatment Specialist
(CDDTS)
INDEPENDENT HOME STUDY PROGRAM
18 CEU Credits/Hours NAADAC / NBCC Approved
Addicted clients often have other problems as well - such as anxiety disorder, personality disorder or major depression - which can fuel the cycle of addiction. Enhance your treatment strategies, help more clients, and increase your professional value by becoming a Certified Dual-Diagnosis Treatment Specialist.
This course is designed to provide both the knowledge and skills foundation necessary to assist dually-diagnosed addicted clients by also addressing their adjunct mental health conditions.
This 18-hour certification course content is comprised of the following 4 core educational components:
ADVANCED DUAL DIAGNOSIS INTERVENTION
9 Hours - Textbook
Dual Diagnosis: Counseling the Mentally Ill Substance Abuser
- by Katie Evans and J. Michael Sullivan
This volume offers an introduction to the issues surrounding this difficult-to-treat population and provides counselors and case managers with coherent and effective treatment techniques.
DUAL-DIAGNOSIS
3 Hours - Audio CD & Text
This course addresses the challenge of treating a client for one condition, while they are affected by another; such as addiction with personality disorder, or depression compounded by alcoholism.
ADDICTION TO PAIN PILLS
3 Hours - Audio CD & Text
9 million Americans are addicted to pain pills, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. This course explores the psychological and physical aspects of pain, the effects of pain pills on the body and the mind, and offers intervention strategies that work.
ASSESSMENT FOR SUBSTANCE ADDICTION - Using the N.S.A.S.
3 Hours - Online Text
(You will access this course online - instructions will be sent with your order.)
This course is important for all helping professionals working with clients who may drink any at all, or use drugs of any kind. There are distinct differences between substance addiction and substance abuse - both in diagnosis and treatment protocol. Unfortunately, many clinicians may blur these distinctions, which can result in inaccurate diagnosis and therefore ineffective treatment - and no one wants that liability.
This CE-CEU-CNE program is appropriate for all mental health professional counseling counselors (LPC, LCPC, LPCC, MHC, RMHC, NCC), marriage and family therapy therapists (MFT, LMFT, RMFT), social work social workers (SW, LCSW, LMSW, SWA, LICSW), psychologists, psychology associates (LPA), chemical dependency substance abuse counselors (LCDC, CADC, CAD, DAC, CAAD, CSAC), and nursing registered nurses (RN, LPN, LVN), and related behavioral health professionals.
