This course provides an overview of Ethical principles during intake and client assessment practice, with a focus on providing Good Therapy.  

Unfortunately, this important area of ethics is often overlooked. Inaccurate assessment always leads to ineffective (and in some cases irresponsible) intervention.

This course is a little controversial, taking a hard look at tough issues like "diagnosing for dollars," and practice limits on the use of psychometic tools sometimes imposed by state regulation, that may keep us from being effective in assessment.

Also discussed is our reliance on a pathological-only understanding of client problems, and alternative ideas to the DSM-IV.

This is Richard's favorite ethics course, and it takes a positive approach to finding real ethical solutions for clients.
